In the spirit of widely popular sports abstract books, Ultimate Hockey, will revolutionize the way you think about this fiercely entertaining sport. From hockey's earliest days to yesterday, this book covers it all, and more! Not only will you read fabulous stories about hockey's greatest stars, you'll read about the not-so-famous players who made this game what it is today, and about the off-ice antics of hockey's most notorious and most gracious players.Decade by decade, you will be thrilled to revisit your favorite hockey memories and add to them with long-buried tales of hockey lore. In a unique section that appears in every chapter, you will find out who the greatest and worst players of each era are, the fastest skaters, the most acrobatic goalies, the best snipers, who had the coolest middle name -- even the ugliest player! Find out why Nels Stewart, star of the Montreal Maroons in the 1920s, was comparable to superstar of today Teemu Selanne. Read about hockey's luminaries and leadfoots, the goons and the greats, about Newsy and Duke, Baldy and One-Eyed Frank. Find out who earned the nickname The Tabasco Kid, and who fancied himself as The Embalmer.Ultimate Hockey will fuel arguments around your dinner table for years as you debate who the authors have chosen as the All-Stars of each decade, and how the stars of the past compare against today's most famous players. Ultimate Hockey is the living history of a fascinating game, and is an invaluable resource of statistics and history.
