Jinx Definitely Has The Brains Of The Pair, And When New Girl Stella Fox Shows Up And Tries To Take Over, Liberty Is Too Naive To See Through Such An Obvious Social Climber. Stella Must Be Stopped, Especially After She Leaves Liberty Alone At A Bar With A Strange Guy Who Almost Rapes Her. Even Though Liberty Makes Excuses For The Situation, Jinx Knows That Stella Is To Blame. Another Problem Is Fat Housemistress Mrs. Gunn, Who Intends To Catch Jinx And Her Friends Misbehaving, No Matter What The Cost. She Despises Jinx, And When She Isn't Drinking Or Having Lesbian Fantasies About A Colleague, She's Making The Girls Miserable For No Good Reason. By The End Of The Novel, It Appears That Stella Will Have The Last Laugh On All Of Them, And Jinx Will Lose Liberty's Friendship Forever. Most Of The Characters In The Novel Are Predictable And One-dimensional. Teachers And Other Adults Are Either Beloved By The Students Because They Are Permissive Pushovers, Or Despised Because Of Their Nasty Personal Hygiene Habits And Insistence Upon Discipline. The Individual Students Are More Completely Developed, And There Is An Intriguing Subplot Involving One Of The Less Popular Girls. Older Fans Of The Gossip Girl Series Will Eat This One Up And Clamor For The Planned Sequel.
