Designed in the 1950s by North American Aviation in California, the F-86 Sabre was chosen by the Royal Canadian Air Force to fulfill its day-fighter needs in Europe with No. 1 Air Division. The Sabre made history by taking control of the skies over Korea and drubbing the MiG-15. The Canadair Sabre traces the evolution of the 1,815 Sabres built under license by Canadair in Montreal. The story begins with immediate post-war plans to complete 100 aircraft and describes the process by which the program reached a production rate of two planes a day. Both the Canadair Sabres and the RCAF pilots served with the USAF in Korea. Milberry details the daily operations of the squadrons, from the ferrying of Sabres from Canada to Europe to the sometimes turbulent goings-on of the Overseas Ferry unit.
