Children's Literature
In this sequel to South Beach and French Kiss, best friends and almost-graduates Alexa and Holly are off on another trip, this time to L. A. for a fabulous celebrity wedding. At a party Alexa randomly runs into Margaux Eklundstrom, a hip, famous actress. She invites Alexa and a friend to her wedding on a whim, even calling up her little brother, heartthrob Jonah Eklundstrom, to make sure Alexa can stay in his guest house. The next day finds Alexa and Holly on a plane bound for L. A., but when a layover in Vegas turns into a potential day or more delay, the girls hitch a ride with Seamus, who is the requisite twenty-one years of age to rent a car. Once in L.A. the girls are given star treatment and are drinking champagne, going to rooftop pool parties, and shopping on Rodeo Drivewhile a romance blooms between Alexa and Jonah. But is Jonah really what Alexa wants? Meanwhile, Holly is on her own journey of self-discoveryshould she stay in New Jersey and go to Rutgers or take a risk and go to UCLA? And will the girls make it home in time for their high school graduation ceremony? The character of Holly is more likable than Alexa, and her story line is more engaging on a realistic level, especially for girls that are about to start looking for colleges or trying to choose the right one. Alexa's story, however, has more of the glamour and excitement that is expected from this kind of book. This is a story that will be read and enjoyed by fans of the first two books and other similar ones such as The It Girl and the Private series.
