About the Author
Monica Belcourt is the Director of the School of Human Resources Management at York University. She is the Past President of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO), past Director of the School of Administrative Studies and the founding Director of the Graduate Program in Human Resources Management at York University. Her research is grounded in the experience she gained as Director of Personnel for CP Rail, Director of Employee Development, National Film Board, and as a functional HR specialist for the federal government. Dr. Belcourt alternated work with graduate school, earning a MA in Psychology, a M. Ed in adult education, and a PhD in business. She also holds the designation CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional). She has taught HR at McGill, Concordia, Universite du Quebec a Montreal and York, and given seminars for HR professionals and executives. She created Canadaâs first degrees in human resources management: B.HRM (honours) and a Masters in HRM (www.atkinson.yorku.ca/mhrm/). Monica is the Series Editor for the Nelson Canada Series in HRM, lead author of Strategic Human Resources Planning, and is the lead author of the best selling book, Managing Human Resources, published by Nelson (www.belcourt.nelson.com). She is a frequent commentator on HRM issues for CTV, Canada AM, CBC, The Report on Business, The Globe and Mail, The Canadian HR Reporter and other media.\
Parbudyal Singh is Full Professor and the Director of the School of Human Resource Management at York University. Prior to this, he was the Director of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and Associate Dean of the School of Business, University of New Haven, Connecticut. He also taught at McMaster University. His Ph.D. studies, completed in 1998 at McMaster University, focused on the effects of organizational strategy on executive compensation. Dr. Singh has won numerous scholastic awards and national research grants. Among other awards, at York University he won the Atkinson Alumni Teaching Award (2005), the Deanâs Award for Excellence in Research (2005), and the Deanâs Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007). He has supervised more than 35 graduate students (Ph.D. and Masterâs). Dr. Singhâs research covers a broad array of management issues, especially those related to the effects of the changing business environment on HRM and industrial relations. He has more than 80 publications, including articles in top refereed journals such as Industrial Relations, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Labor Research, Management International Review, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Comparative Labor Law Journal, Canadian Public Administration, Group and Organization Management, and Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals. Dr. Singh has worked as an HR manager in a large manufacturing company. He has offered advice to more than 30 of Canadaâs leading organizations.\

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
