This text offers a managerial approach to international business, with emphasis on skills development and e-business. This third edition encourages cultural literacy in international business through more case studies on the international marketplace, 48 in all. Boxed readings provide insight into the impact of e-commerce on international business and the challenges of conducting business abroad, and outline the historical, cultural, and political contexts of international business. Other learning features include Web exercises, discussion of news events, and pro and con arguments on controversial business topics such as IMF aid and workers' rights. Some 40 maps help students understand political and national boundaries. Griffin is chair of Business Administration at Texas A&M University, where Pustay teaches management. Annotation c. BooknewsA textbook for students who are not necessarily specializing in international business, and so are not familiar with many of the technical terms, but who will need at least to be aware of the global dimension, if not participate in it themselves, when they begin their management career. Leaves such details as international accounting to specialized texts and courses. No date is noted for the first edition; the second incorporates recent crises and bailouts, treaties and alliances, new cultural and management theories, and current technologies.
