description:this Is A Beginning Text For A Variety Of Allied Health Professionals Who Need To Have An Understanding Of Pharmacology. The Book Is Organized Into Sections According To Body Systems And Then Subsequently Into Chapters Further Breaking Down The Information Into Pertinent Topic Areas. The Previous Edition Was Published In 1999; The Book Was Originally Published In 1980.
purpose:according To The Authors, The Purpose Is To Provide For A Variety Of Allied Health Programs Requiring An Understanding Of Pharmacology A Basic Rationale Of Current Drug Therapy. The Objectives Are Certainly Worthwhile And The Book Is Necessary. The Authors Essentially Meet The Objectives Of The Book But I Am Concerned That The Book Is Too Elementary For Some Healthcare Programs.
audience:this Book Is Written For Beginning Allied Healthcare Students. The Authors Are Credible Authorities.
features:this Is A Comprehensive Overview Of Current Pharmacology And How It Is Used In Today's Healthcare Setting. Each Chapter Is Nicely Organized With Topic Areas Including A Focus, Key Terms, And Objectives Which Help To Direct The Reader. Each Chapter Has A Very Useful Drug Class At A Glance Diagram. The Chapters Are Well Organized With Consistent Topic Areas That Help The Reader With Information Retrieval. There Are Many Clear And Pertinent Tables And Illustrations. Each Chapter Concludes With A Review That Provides The Reader With A Method Of Self Evaluation.
assessment:this Is A Well-written Beginning Introduction To Pharmacology. It Is Intended To Provide A Broad Overview Of The Topic In Easy To Understand Language And Format. The New Edition Is Certainly Important Given The Ever Changing Subject Area Of Pharmacology. I Appreciated The Internet Connection Information That Gives Readers Direction For Additional Up-to-date Reference Material. Many Of The Additional Readings Provided At The End Of Each Chapter Are Dated.
